Growth Hormone Therapy

Growth Hormone Therapy for Men

Balancing hormones like testosterone, estrogen, and thyroid is foundational men. But for those who want more out of treatment, growth hormone therapy is one way to push results to the next level.

Facts About Growth Hormone for Men

Growth Hormone (GH) promotes cell growth and repair within every cell of the body. And by extension, it impacts everything from fat metabolism and bone growth to the production of lean muscle and collagen…and much more.

The pituitary gland produces large quantities of GH during childhood to promote growth and development. However, once adulthood is reached, growth hormone production drops off dramatically.

In fact, GH production diminishes by 75% upon maturation, with that decline continuing gradually throughout adulthood. By the time a person reaches their 70s and 80s, GH production is but a fraction of what it was during younger years.

With that decline of GH, the body loses its ability to produce and repair its cells.

  1. GH affects every cell within the body.
  2. Many symptoms of low GH—like fatigue, weight gain, and insomnia—overlap with imbalances in other hormones.
  3. Over-the-counter remedies for improving GH levels do not work.
  4. The only way to effectively increase GH levels is with a prescription.
  5. GH therapy works best when other hormones are optimized.
  6. Maintaining good lifestyle habits will maximize results.

Method of Treatment

  1. Low GH is diagnosed using lab testing and an inventory of symptoms.
  2. If diagnosed with low GH, a personalized treatment plan will be created.
  3. Pituitary stimulation is one approach to GH therapy that stimulates the pituitary to produce more of its own GH. Pituitary stimulation is accomplished using a growth hormone stimulating peptide (also known as a secretagogue). Replacing GH with recombinant growth hormone is also option, particularly if pituitary stimulation fails to sufficiently increase levels.
  4. Pituitary stimulation is most effective when done by injection, but it can also be accomplished sublingually. Recombinant GH can only be delivered by way of an injection, usually done at night before bed.
  5. Progress is monitored with regular lab testing.
