Saliva testing for cortisol is the most reliable way to diagnose adrenal fatigue.
Have you been feeling more and more tired, run down, anxious, or depressed lately? These are all potential symptoms of low testosterone, but before you decide that you need to pursue only testosterone replacement therapy, it is very important to consult a doctor who will check for additional possible causes of or contributing factors to these symptoms. One test you will not want to overlook is saliva testing for cortisol.
Why Test Cortisol Levels
Cortisol is the main hormone produced by the adrenal glands in response to stress. By checking the levels of cortisol in your system throughout the day, we can assess your adrenal function and determine if you may be suffering from adrenal fatigue.
Adrenal fatigue is a condition in which the adrenal glands become worn out from severe or frequent episodes of stress. If you are suffering from adrenal fatigue, your body will no longer be able to produce even the small amount of cortisol it needs to function properly on a day to day basis. This lack of cortisol can have a big impact on your overall health, causing changes in energy production/metabolism, immune function, heart rate, and hormonal balance. Individuals with adrenal fatigue often also have issues with chronic fatigue, obesity, insomnia, depression, and diabetes.
What Testing Involves
At Renew Man™, we provide reliable saliva testing for cortisol that can be used to help diagnose adrenal fatigue. The testing is very simple and involves spitting into a test tube 4 times on the day of the test: once at 8 am, 12 pm, 4 pm, and 12 am. We will provide you with the test tubes to be used on the day of your choice, and you simply mail them to the lab when you’re done. Although other hormones such as testosterone, estrogen, and DHEA can also be measured with the 8 am saliva sample, for more accurate measurements of these hormones we recommend blood testing instead.
